Last week was a busy week for the world of Android, not least due to the fact that Google held a little developer’s conference called I/O. Last week we saw the announcement of Android M, due for general release later this year, as well as small, yet significant, changes to the Google Play Store. For our readers across the pond though, that wasn’t all the big Android news that landed last week, as the LG G4 went up for pre-order at Vodafone UK, and now it’s available to order online with delivery in “1 – 2 weeks” which isn’t the sort of timeframe that many will have wanted, but it’s a start at least.
Perhaps the reason that the G4 is taking a little longer than expected to reach people is down to high pre-orders? Either way, if you’re looking for a G4 in red leather, then Vodafone is the only place you’ll be able to get one in the UK as it’s exclusive to Vodafone. There’s also a Metallic Grey option available as well for those that don’t fancy red leather. We reviewed the G4 earlier this year, and found it to be a pretty great flagship, and even though it doesn’t reinvent the G3’s look and feel it’s made all the right improvements while offering something new to users. Price wise, this isn’t a cheap handset, but then again what is these days? It’s available for free on contracts starting from £35 with a fairly small 1GB of data, those looking for more data will need to cough up £45 a month for 4GB of data and your choice of six months of either Spotify Premium, NOW TV or Sky Sports Mobile. Still, all contracts do come with unlimited texts and calls as well, so there’s that.
For those that need a little refreshing, the LG G4 was launched earlier this year with a hexa-core Snapdragon 808, 3GB of RAM and an improved 5.5-inch Quad HD IPS display. The star of the show with the G4 however has been the camera, which appears to have been built by NASA with all sorts of tricks like a color spectrum sensor, laser autofocus and a full manual mode.
