After months and months of various leaks and teasers, Meizu MX5 was announced earlier today. This China-based smartphone OEM has held an event in Beijing and announced their new flagship, which has lots to offer. We’ve already covered the official announcement of the Meizu MX5, but we’re here now to take a closer look at the MX5’s specifications. That being said, let’s see what Meizu MX5 has to offer, shall we.

Meizu MX5 is made out of metal, just like its predecessor were, the Meizu MX4 and MX4 Pro. The Meizu MX5 features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080, 401PPI, 10,000:1 contrast) Super AMOLED display along with 3GB of RAM. The phone is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10 (MT6795) 64-bit octa-core processor along with a PowerVR G6200 GPU for graphics. The 20.7-megapixel camera (f/2.3 aperture, 1.2um pixel size) is located on the back of this handset, and below it you’ll find an LED flash and the Laser Autofocus. Meizu says that MX5 can take a photo in 0.2 seconds, which will certainly come in handy. The 5-megapixel snapper is available on the front side of MX5, and it offers f/2.0 aperture.

The 3,150mAh battery will juice up the Meizu MX5, and the company has included the mCharge feature which is able to charge up that battery from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes. The Meizu MX5 offers dual-SIM (nano SIM) connectivity, and 4G LTE is also a part of this package. Android Lollipop comes pre-installed on Meizu’s newest flagship, with the company’s Flyme 4.5 UI installed on top of Google’s OS. The device is only 7.6mm thick, while it weights 149 grams, which makes it thinner than both MX4 and MX4 Pro, while it is slightly heavier than the MX4. This handset also features a physical home button below the display, mTouch 2.0 button as Meizu calls it. This thing actually doubles as a fingerprint scanner, and it’s supposed to be really fast.

That being said, the Meizu MX5 comes in three color options, Gold and two Grey variants. This device is available in 16, 32 and 64GB variants. The 16GB model costs 1,799 Yuan ($290), the 32GB variant comes in at 1,999 Yuan ($322), and the most expensive 64GB model will set you back 2,399 Yuan ($403) if you want to purchase it.
