Micromax is by far the number one smartphone manufacturer in India. This India-based smartphone OEM is well-known in the country for manufacturing low and mid-range handset which sell really well over there. Micromax usually releases a ton of devices a year, they have a number of active phone lineups. The company has released the Canvas Hue 2 mid-range handset a couple of days ago, and they’re back again with yet another device. Let’s see what Micromax has to offer this time around, shall we.
The Micromax Canvas Silver 5 is the new offering by this Indian company. This handset features a 4.8-inch 720p (1280 x 720) AMOLED fully laminated display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of it. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core SoC running at 1.2GHz powers this thing along with an Adreno 306 GPU. The device will ship with 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and unlike most offerings over there, this phone doesn’t offer dual-SIM connectivity. The 8-megapixel shooter (Sony’s IMX219 sensor) is located on the back of this device, and is flanked by an LED flash. The 8-megapixel camera can be found on the front side of this handset, and a 2,000mAh battery is also a part of this package. This is a 4G LTE device, in case you were wondering, and Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on the Micromax Canvas Silver 5, with some additions from the company, of course. The device measures 141.9 x 68.1 x 5.1mm, while it weighs 97 grams.
Micromax’s latest offering is actually the slimmest handset in the Canvas series, and its frame is made out of aircraft grade aluminum. The phone also comes with the NXP Smart PA audio chip and Dirac HD audio technology in order to provide a better overall audio experience. The Micromax Canvas Silver 5 will be available in Black and White color options for Rs. 17.999. If you live in India, you’ll be able to purchase this handset starting from the first week of July. Micromax is also offering Onsite Care service, and the device will also come with the double data offer from for Airtel customers (this offer will last 3 months).
