Xiaomi is one of the fastest-growing smartphone manufacturers in the world, quite probably even the fastest growing one. This company is currently doing business only in Asia, certain parts of it. They plan to start manufacturing devices in India soon, and the company has announced yesterday that they’ll enter the Brasilian market at the end of this month. Xiaomi has announced a number of smartphones this year, many of which (if not all of them) will make their way to Brasil eventually. That being said, Xiaomi is nowhere near done releasing smartphones, read on.
We’ve seen a number of leaks and rumors regarding Xiaomi’s upcoming devices, and two of them are mentioned quite oftenly, the Redmi Note 2 and Mi 5. The former is Xiaomi’s mid-ranger, while the latter one is Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship for 2015. Both of these devices are expected to land in the next couple of months, and a mysterious Xiaomi-branded handset has leaked in China. If you take a look at the provided image, you’ll notice the handset in question, and according to the report, we’re looking at the upcoming Redmi Note 2. This is not the first time Redmi Note 2 has leaked, though this leak is significantly different than the previous one. We cannot confirm that this is indeed the Redmi Note, who knows, perhaps we’re looking at the upcoming Mi 5. Anyhow, as you can see, this handset sports a fingerprint scanner on the back (below the camera sensor), while power / lock and volume rocker buttons are located on the right side of the device. The 3.5mm audio jack is available up top, and it seems like the device is made out of metal.
We’ll have to wait and see if this is indeed the Redmi Note 2 or something else entirely. According to the previous info, the Redmi Note 2 will feature a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2 or 3GB of RAM (2 variants are possible) and a 13-megapixel main camera. MediaTek’s MT6795 64-bit octa-core processor is said to power this handset, and Android Lollipop will quite probably be pre-installed here with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of it, of course. Stay tuned, we’ll report back as soon as additional info surfaces.
