New LG G4 Users Reporting Touch Screen Issues

So the LG G4 is now available in the US. We’ve been using the Korean variant for about 6 weeks now and just got our hands on a US variant about a week ago. So we’ve had quite a bit of time with the device, and really liked LG’s latest flagship. Just a few days ago – actually really yesterday – I started noticing that the LG G4 was not recognizing taps consistently. For instance, hitting the app drawer icon doesn’t always register. Just this morning, I had to hit it the Inbox icon about 4 times before it actually opened my email. And I’m not the only one having the issue, it seems.

A Reddit user by the name /u/Valkyrie743 posted a thread on Reddit along with a video showing his problem with the touchscreen. And reading through the thread on the /r/LGG4 subreddit, you’ll see that he’s not the only one with the issue. There are plenty of others on other carriers with the same issue, unfortunately. So far, we’ve seen users on Verizon and T-Mobile with the issue. We’re not sure if the T-Mobile users are ones with the preview unit though. Which does have preview software.

Recently we saw OnePlus having all kinds of touchscreen issues with their OnePlus One. And it took them nearly a year to fix it. Now LG’s software team is a bit bigger than OnePlus or even Cyanogen’s, so hopefully LG can get it fixed pretty quickly. It doesn’t appear to be happening to everyone though, which is a little strange. It’s really the only issue with the LG G4, as the rest of the phone is top notch, especially the camera. Hopefully it’s just a software issue and not a hardware issue. That way LG can push out an update and fix everyone’s touchscreen without needing to replace everyone’s phone. It would definitely be a lot better.

For some, the issue seems to be at random. Sometimes the phone will work with no issues at all, and sometimes you’ll have to tap somewhere a few times for it to register.
