OnePlus have been hitting the headlines almost on a daily basis over the past couple of weeks. This is not too surprising though, as the company are gearing up to unveil and launch their latest smartphone, the OnePlus 2. That said, what was a little surprising was the way in which the company have been preparing for the launch. Instead of leaving the world in anticipation before the big event, OnePlus has been specifically leaking specs themselves on a routine basis over the past week. Now, it seems it is the latest “piece by piece” announcement, as the company has just announced the latest spec (or in this case, feature) on offer with the upcoming OnePlus 2.
This time round, OnePlus has now confirmed that the OnePlus 2 will come with a built-in fingerprint sensor. Like, the already announced Snapdragon 810 processor, this will not come as a massive surprise to those who have been following the OnePlus 2 news over the last year. There had already been numerous suggestions that OnePlus was planning on releasing a fingerprint scanner on their next device and it was even said to be one which was specifically quoted as being ‘faster than TouchID’. Well, this is exactly what OnePlus has now announced. The new fingerprint scanner is said to be faster than Touch ID and in “one quick tap takes you right to your homescreen“. Not to mention, OnePlus have also confirmed that the fingerprint scanner will be able to store up to five fingerprint profiles.
Many manufacturers have been including fingerprint sensors on their devices in recent times and OnePlus make reference to this in the latest announcement (source link below) detailing that they could have included one on the OnePlus One, but stated that they felt it was better to wait so that it could be offered as a more “useful feature”. Interestingly, this news comes on the back of images which surfaced over the weekend which were reported to be showing a fingerprint scanner placement on the back of the device. This comes as the latest in official OnePlus announcements and as such, it has now been confirmed that the OnePlus will come with a fingerprint scanner, Snapdragon 810 and Type-C USB port.
