OnePlus Holding Contest To Give Away 3 OnePlus Twos

Hong Kong Headquartered smartphone maker OnePlus launched its first ever smartphone last year, dubbed the OnePlus One. The phone came with high-end hardware, but had an unexpectedly affordable price-tag, and as a bonus, ran on Cyanogen’s software. No wonder the device soon caught the fancy of Android aficionados worldwide, and got dubbed the “flagship killer”. This year, numerous reports have indicated the company is about to launch not one, but two devices, with the second-generation flagship being named the OnePlus Two. Now, as the company is readying the launch of that device, it is holding a contest in an effort to spread the word and get the right buzz before the worldwide launch.

Through a post on its official forums, the company has announced it is offering its fans a chance to win the OnePlus Two before it is released commercially. There are three identical prizes available, which include a brand new OnePlus Two, and an all-expenses paid trip to the Hong Kong headquarters of the company. OnePlus also promises that the winners will “get to play a pivotal role in a secret project we have planned for the OnePlus 2 launch”. To enter the contest, you’ll either need to shoot a video detailing your thoughts and ideas about OnePlus or take the “perfect shot with your smartphone”. According to the rules of the contest, the aspiring filmmakers need to shoot the video in landscape mode at a resolution of at least 1080p, but preferably at 4K (3840 x 2160). Meanwhile for the shutterbugs, the photo needs to be unedited, untouched and taken without any filters and uploaded to Instagram. There will be two winners for the video contest and only one for the photography contest.

According to OnePlus, in the photography category, the company will choose the top ten entries based on a combination of technical ability and popularity on Instagram, which will be decided of course by the number of ‘likes’ on the social media site. From within that shortlist, OnePlus forum members will get to pick the final winner. As for the video category, OnePlus says “Entries will be judged on quality, production, and originality of content”. OnePlus and its forum members will each get to pick a winner from within the shortlist of ten. OnePlus will also have prizes for the remaining eight runners-up, who’ll receive goody bags from the company, and will “have their videos featured in an upcoming OnePlus 2 project”. The contest will remain open till midnight, June 15th, and results will be announced on the very next day. The winners will then leave for Hong Kong on or before June 28th, according to OnePlus.
