In the world, we live in today, marketing, tabloids and popular public figures often showcase higher-end smartphones that are currently available for the general public. The problem is, not everyone can really afford these handsets. Instead, there are perfect options for both low and mid-range based smartphones, one of which was recently announced by Oppo. Don’t confuse this announcement with the release of the Joy Plus that Oppo announced earlier this year. Instead, Oppo is back to deliver the Joy 3, which makes improvements over the Joy 2 and succeeds the Joy Plus.
As I mentioned before, this is a more midrange type smartphone so don’t expect the top of the line components within the Oppo Joy 3. For instance, the handset will feature a 4.5-inch TFT display that will contain a resolution of 854 x 480. Cracking open the device and you’ll find that the Oppo Joy 3 is being powered by a 1.3Ghz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 chipset with Mali-400MP2 included for the graphics. With only 4GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM, the Oppo Joy 3 won’t come packed with a ton of storage for applications, videos or pictures. However, there will be a memory card slot available to bump up storage for videos and photos taken.
Speaking of photos and videos, the Joy 3 handset will include a 5-megapixel camera located on the back with a 2-megapixel camera on the front face. There will be a variation of different photography options such as HDR, Panorama and Beautify. Though one of the main marketing aspects for the Oppo Joy 3 is its burst shot. With the capability of capturing multiple photos instantly, the photos could be transformed into a ten-second GIF with sound.
While technically running Android, the Oppo Joy 3 will be using ColorOS 2.0 which is based off Android 4.4 KitKat. Internally, there will be two Micro-SIM card slots for dual-SIM options but only one SIM will be able to have 3G capabilities at a given time. Other notable features that will come with the handset are WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. Currently at this time, no word has been given out about pricing.
