India is the second biggest smartphone market in the world, and its growth-rate is truly staggering. It’s really interesting to watch a market develop, and India is where China was a couple of years back, and has great potential. That being said, more and more manufacturers are entering the Indian smartphone market and offering their products over there. Well-known OEMs like Samsung, Motorola and Sony are amongst them, while there are also a number of India-based OEMs which constantly push out new devices to the market.
Phicomm is yet another China-based OEM that most of you have probably never heard of. Well, this OEM has just introduced a new device in India, the Passion 660. This is a mid-range offering by the company, and it features a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 64GB via microSD card). This handset is powered by the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor running at 1.5GHz which ships with an Adreno 405 GPU. The 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this device (Sony’s IMX214 sensor, f/2.0 aperture), while a 5-megapixel snapper is available up front. The 2,300mAh battery is also a part of this package, and Android 4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed here with the company’s Expect OS 5.0 on top of it. Phicomm’s software offering actually packs in some gesture actions and some additional goodies. This phone also has a pedometer built-in, and the usual array of sensors are also present here. This is a dual-SIM handset, and it also offers 4G LTE connectivity. The device measures 139.5 x 69 x 7.4mm and weighs 110 grams.
“PHICOMM Passion 660 is an innovative smartphone which reflects the distinctive needs of the Indian consumers. The Indian smartphone market is constantly evolving and consumers here are looking for unique smartphones with advanced features and high standards to gain the maximum experience. Our strong in-house research and development team have helped in customizing the smartphone especially for the Indian consumers,” said Zheng Min, CEO of Phicomm.
