Samsung Unveils Galaxy J5 And J7 Mid-Rangers In China

Samsung is the number one smartphone manufacturer in the world at the moment, and pretty much everyone has heard of the company’s Android-powered Galaxy phones. Samsung tends to release a lot of such devices per year, and the most notable offerings are their flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series of devices. That being said, Samsung does release quite a few mid-rangers during the year, and they’ve just announced two new such devices.

This Korea-based smartphone OEM has unveiled the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 handsets we’ve talked about quite a few times thus far. The two device were announced in China, and are the company’s first offerings to sport the front-facing LED flash units. Both of these devices sport 5-megapixel front-facing wide-angle cameras, and 13-megapixel rear-facing shooters (f/1.9 aperture). The two devices also sport 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable internal storage, and offer 4G LTE connectivity. The Galaxy J5 and J7 will ship with two SIM card slots, and both will come with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed.

The Galaxy J5 features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display and is fueled by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor along with an Adreno 306 GPU. This handset also sports a 2,600mAh battery on the inside. The Galaxy J7, on the other hand, sports  5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) panel on the front, and comes with a 3,000mAh battery. This handset is powered by the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor.

Both of these devices come in Black, White and Gold color options and will be available in China starting this week. The Samsung Galaxy J5 is priced at 1,398 Yuan ($225), and the Galaxy J7 costs 1,798 Yuan ($289). The two devices will have a lot of competition in China considering that the market is very competitive and there are a lot of low-priced devices available. Samsung took a huge hit in China last year, and the company is clearly trying to regain their market share. Samsung didn’t mention anything regarding availability of these two handsets in other market, but this Korean tech giant will almost certainly release some info regarding that in the near future, so stay tuned for that.
