Android TV as a platform is significantly growing. It has been slow out of the gates, but much more recently, the increase in momentum has been noted. Not to mention, with the recent features being noted on the Android M update for Nexus Player, it looks like the actual functionality of the platform will be greatly improved. In terms of hardware, the more recent news includes standalone hardware releases like the recently launched offerings from both NVIDIA and Razer, as well as the start of Android TV as a built-in platform as has been seen on the recently released Sony Android TV running, TV sets. Well, another company who made their intentions to support Android TV as an inbuilt system on their units, was Sharp.
Along with Sony, Sharp were in attendance at this year’s CES event in January and made their intentions known that a number of their devices would come running Android TV during this year. Well, it now seems that the time has arrived and Sharp Android TV units are starting to hit the stores. The latest is that these TV sets, including the 4K options are currently shipping to Best Buy and other stores. In fact, Sharp seemed to be releasing a number of TV units this week, although, only a few of them will be Android TV devices.
In terms of those Android TV specific TV sets, these are made up of the UE30 and UH30 lines and range in size from 60-inches through to 80-inches and are set to range from $1,999.99 up to $5,999.99. For those who really want to be one of the first to get hold of a Sharp Android TV 4K television, then it seems Amazon are already listing them as available, in stock and ready to ship. Not to mention, they seem a bit cheaper than what is their main retail price. As such, you can pick up the 60-inch UE30 model for $1,699.99 or the 70-inch version for $2,299.99.
