Verizon Moto X (2nd Gen) Android 5.1 Update Starting

When it comes to Android 5.x (Lollipop), it has been a busy weekend. In particular, for Motorola devices owners and especially when it comes to Android 5.1, the next major(ish) update in the lifespan of Lollipop. The news all started for Motorola owners back on Friday when reports began to emerge that the 2nd generation Moto X on Verizon had begun its soak testing for Android 5.1. This was then followed by the news that the second generation Pure Edition Moto X has also began its soak testing. Not to be left out, before the end of the day, an announcement came through that the Moto G (1st Gen) LTE had also joined the soak testing rank

Well, following on from the first device mention, the Moto X (2nd Gen), it now looks as though the soak test was a successful one as Verizon now seems to be confirming that the Moto X (2014) Android 5.1 update is about to begin, if it has not already. The update is set to be rolling out with version number 23.16.3 and as mentioned, will update your Moto X (2nd Gen) up to Android 5.1. Much of the improvements that come with Android 5.1 have been noted repeatedly already and includes the likes of improved notifications, interruptions and better WiFi and Bluetooth controls.

As per usual, the beginning of the update does not necessarily mean that you will see the update landing on your device today. However, the release notes for the update are now live and as such, it is assumed the update will begin at any moment. Those with a Moto X (2nd Gen) can go through the typical motions to check if the update is ready and waiting for them. For those new to the process, hit settings, About Phone, Software Updates and finally Check for Update. Otherwise, you can just wait until your device prompts you that the update has arrived. Those interested in knowing more can hit the source link below and head over to the Verizon update support pages for the Moto X, which list detailed updating instructions as well as the release notes for the Android 5.1 update. Either way, Moto X owners can rest assured that Android 5.1 does very much seem to be on the way.
