Last week, we heard about Kinzie, the code name for a new Motorola phone. Which it turns out, that might just be the new Moto X. As the FCC filing indicates that it’ll be supported by all four carriers. Similar to the Nexus 6 that the company did with Google last fall. That’s a big deal because before the Nexus 6, we never saw a single phone that worked on Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. So it appears that Motorola took what it learned in the Nexus 6 and bringing it to their own flagship. This could also pave the way for it to work on Project Fi. This Motorola Kinzie has LTE-A, MiMo for WiFi, as well as Turbo Charging. No word on other specs or Qi Wireless charging just yet though.
Next up is a Moto G or a DROID? Like we’ve said these FCC filings don’t give us specs on the device, basically just the bands that it supports. So it’s tough to tell if it’s a high-end, mid-range or low-end device, unfortunately. Droid Life is thinking it’s either a Moto G or a DROID Mini like device, seeing as it does support Verizon, as well as GSM bands. Which every Verizon phone does these days.
There’s also another phone, this time heading to Sprint. Judging by the bands it supports. It looks like this might be the Moto G, and if you look at the dimensions for the display, it’s smaller than the one above, that seems to be destined for Verizon. Which makes us think that this is indeed a Moto G and the other is a DROID device. According to the listing, there is a removable back, and it does appear to match up with the dimensions of last year’s Moto G, which makes us think that the third generation Moto G is keeping the same display size. Of course we won’t know until Motorola makes it official.
We’re quickly approaching the anniversary of last year’s Moto X and Moto G. So we should be seeing some invites for a Motorola event pretty soon. And we definitely can’t wait to see what the Lenovo-owned manufacturer has for us.
