Sony’s Xperia Z2 Series Gets Android 5.1.1 Update
The Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet are following in the Xperia Z3 footsteps this week with the update to Android 5.1.1. Both the D6502 and D6503 models of the Xperia Z2 smartphone should be getting the review in Europe and elsewhere with a software version of 23.4.A.0.546. Meanwhile, the SGP511, SGP512, SGP521 and SGP551 models of the Xperia Z2 Tablet are getting the same software version of 23.4.A.0.546.
HTC One M9 Users on T-Mobile Get Android 5.1.1
While many other carriers seem to have already rolled out their updates to Android 5.1.1 for the HTC One M9, T-Mobile have been dragging their feet. That changed this week however, as they finally gave HTC One M9 users the latest and sweetest taste of Lollipop. More info can be found here from T-Mobile.
Tegra Note 7 Tablets Get Android 5.1.1
Maybe you have a Tegra Note 7 from EVGA, or HP, or even XOLO. Just like they do with their graphics cards, the Tegra Note 7 was sold as a sort of reference design to OEMs for them to slap their own slant on things. Not many did however, and for all intents and purposes, they’re all the same hardware. Which is good because with System Version 3.0 comes Android 5.1.1 for all! Miracast, much as it did with the recent Android 5.1.1 update to the SHIELD Portable has gone the way of the Dodo. Instead, Chromecast is the new hotness here, and other than that the 450MB plus update just adds in the usual Lollipop tweaks and bug fixes. NVIDIA have said that there are some improvement to pen input features as well.
T-Mobile’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Get Battery Update
T-Mobile were one of the first to gift Galaxy S6 users Android 5.1.1, and now they’re giving the duo an update that should offer up some battery improvements for the better. Both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are getting small updates, around 100MB or so in size, that seem to focus on battery. So maybe your Galaxy S6 might last a little longer. Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 Gets Android 5.1.1
The Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, despite it’s crazy name, is designed for the simple things in life. It’s an Android tablet. Running a few Samsung features. That’s basically all you need to know, but now it’s getting a near 1GB strong update to Android 5.1.1. That is of course, if you’re an AT&T subscriber, and if you are, you should click here.
NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet Gets Android 5.1.1
Not to be left on all the fun, NVIDIA is updating the SHIELD Tablet to Android 5.1.1 as well. While not as drastic an update as others, it does come in around 750MB or so and bumps up to the latest version of Android. NVIDIA are quoting ‘performance and stability’ enhancements so you might notice a little wonkiness going away here as well. More info can be found here.
