Back in October last year, Google has announced a couple of Nexus devices. The Mountain View giant has released showcased the Motorola-Made Nexus 6 phablet, the HTC-made Nexus 9 tablet and the Nexus Player. These three devices are at the same time the last Nexus offerings Google has released, but we’ve seen a lot of rumors regarding the upcoming Nexus devices. As you probably recall, a number of rumors have mentioned that both Huawei and LG will be making Nexus smartphones this year. LG was said to be working on a 5.2-inch device, and Huawei on a 5.7-inch one. To make things even more believable, a report from last month was citing one of Huawei’s employees who basically confirmed that Huawei is working on a new Nexus device. We do have some new info regarding all this now, read on.
According to a new report from The Information, Google and Huawei are indeed working on a new Nexus device. That’s not all though, it seems like the two companies are also working on bringing Google Play Store to China. As most of you know, the Chinese government has all sorts of regulations which are essentially blocking Google’s services in that Asian country, and Huawei and Google are reportedly trying to find a way to change that. According to a report, Google will also help Huawei market their devices in the west, their future devices that is. Huawei is one of the biggest Chinese smartphone OEMs, but they’re not all that popular in the US, and it seems like the company wants to change that in the future.
It would certainly be interesting if Huawei and Google managed to change China’s ways and soften the Chinese government. Google’s services are a core of Android experience, we’ll see what happens. As far as Nexus devices go, we’re almost certainly going to see more rumors surface before Google’s official announcement, but you can expect at least one, if not two Nexus smartphones to land this fall.
