There seems to be more Chinese manufacturers of mobile devices every day, or at least they become more relevant by launching some interesting products. Some release smartphones with almost bezel-less or very thin designs, some others release high-end devices with a price that’s below what we’ve come to expect and others with unique features like a huge battery. Coolpad is one of those manufacturers that might not be very well known, but they have been around for a while now and they even created one of the slimmest phones with a 4.7 mm profile.
Their Dazen sub-brand has had some success as it is sold in India at affordable prices. Now, the company will introduce a phablet under the Dazen brand with some features that are new to the series while keeping a low price. This device is called the Dazen Note 3 and it has a display that measures 5.5 inches in its diagonal with HD resolution. The processor powering up the device is an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 with 64-bit architecture along 2 GB of RAM and users will have 16GB to store their files and apps along with a Micro SD card slot. The main camera has a 13-megapixel sensor and the front-facing one is 5 megapixels. The battery has a relatively large capacity of 3,000 mAh, so it may last for over a day.
The phone is made out of plastic and the back cover is replaceable with other 3 color options including blue, yellow and green. Still, the thin bezels on the sides of the screen makes it look good enough for this price range. A feature that may come unexpected is the fingerprint sensor it integrates in the back, which is made by FPC with industry leading image quality and it can scan fingerprints in any direction while promising a fast response. The phone runs Android 5.1 out of the box with the proprietary customization of the company. Of course, the highlight of this phone is the asking price considering all of this features, it will sell in China for 899 Yuan, which converts to $144 approximately, so the company has definitely built a solid offering.
