Gionee is a well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturer. This company has released quite a few devices thus far, and their Elife S5.1 handset was even the thinnest smartphone in the world for a short period of time. The company has announced the Elife S7 mid-range during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) back in March, and the company pushed out two additional devices last month. On June 10th, Gionee has unveiled their new flagship, the Elife E8, and the mid-range M5 Marathon handset which sports a huge 6,000mAh battery on the inside.
We’ve talked about each of those devices at length already, and you can take a closer look at the Elife E8 by clicking here. That being said, the Elife E8 is now available for pre-order in China, and it will be available for purchase on July 20th. The Elife E8 is definitely not the most affordable flagship around, the Gionee-branded flagship will set you back 3,999 Yuan ($644), but this phablet has a lot to offer. The Elife E8 sports a 6-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of in-built storage. This phablet is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10 (MT6795) 64-bit octa-core SoC, and the 3,520mAh battery is available on the inside. This is a dual-SIM handset, and 4G LTE connectivity is also a part of this package. The 24-megapixel OIS camera is available on the back of the Elife E8, and it offers PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) which can stitch up a number of images and create one huge image (up to 120MP), it reportedly does a really good job at that as well. The 8-megapixel snapper is available up front, and the phone will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box with Gionee’s Amigo OS 3.1 on top of it.
This phablet is made out of metal, and it also offers a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The NXP Smart PA audio chip and stereo speaker with DTS support are also a part of the Elife E8 package by the way.
