Meizu is one of the fastest growing Chinese smartphone OEMs at the moment. This Chinese company is still not among the top players in China, but if the manage to keep this up, they will be soon. The company’s sales grew immensely at the beginning of this year, and Meizu keeps on releasing really compelling handsets. The company has unveiled the M2 Note and MX5 smartphones in the last couple of weeks, their mid-range and high-end offerings. These two announcements were followed by the unveiling of Meizu M2 which took place yesterday.
The M2 is a direct successor to the Meizu M1 which launched back in January. This is a well-specced entry-level device which costs around $100 in China, which is a very compelling price point, no matter which way you look at it. That being said, first unboxing started appearing in China. If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll get see a number of real life Meizu M2 images. We were able to see a to of renders of this smartphone, but not we can finally take a look at the phone properly.
The Meizu M2 is essentially a smaller variant of the M2 Note, and its specs are also somewhat less impressive than the ones on the M2 Note. That doesn’t mean this is not a capable device though, quite on the contrary. The Meizu M2 features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 128GB). This phone is powered by MediaTek’s MT6735 64-bit quad-core processor which runs at 1.3GHz, while a Mali-T720 MP2 GPU is here for graphics processing. The 13-megapixel shooter is available on the back of this handset, and a 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front. The 2,500mAh battery is also a part of this package, while the device also offers dual-SIM and 4G LTE connectivity. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Meizu’s Flyme UI 4.5 on top of it.
The Meizu M2 features a physical home button below the display, and generally looks like a Meizu device. It resembles the company’s previous offerings, and especially the M2 Note. Both the power / lock and volume rocker buttons are located on its right side, and the SIM tray can be found on the left.
