One of the benefits of having an Android device is that since it was created, it has allowed its users to customize various aspects of their phones and tablets to their own preference. It goes further than just changing the wallpaper or organizing elements into the home screens, if you are an unexperienced user you could download a launcher or more recently one of the themes available that not only change the way some elements look on the device but they also add some features to enhance the user experience. One of the customizations that has been available for a long time is to change the default keyboard installed by the manufacturer and choose from a variety that could simply change the color of the letters or have a whole new way of typing.
Google created its own keyboard meant to work on their Nexus devices, but they have made it available to download through the Play Store for over two years now. Its design has always been minimalistic and clean, and with the whole Material Design makeover, it looks better than ever by removing the unnecessary rectangles for each key and adopting a color palette that belongs to that design language. It has supported gesture typing for a while, so it recognizes words by sliding your finger over the letters, which makes it particularly useful for one-handed usability. If you’re busy, you can dictate to the keyboard and it will convert voice into written words. The auto-correcting feature will also complete words and predict the next word, saving a little of time and it supports emoji in every app.
Now, Google Keyboard is getting an update to enhance how the keyboard works besides the typical bug fixes and small improvements, the auto-complete feature and gesture typing has been improved producing more accurate results. It now learns from the way users type instantly and now while typing in gesture mode will predict the word before the user slides over the last letters, showing the word in a text bubble and following their finger. It now syncs all the word it has learned from the user across all Android devices, so when they switch between them, it will be a more familiar experience, this option can be activated in the Accounts and Privacy section of the Google Keyboard Settings.
