Google Is Rolling Out New Invitation Settings For Hangouts

Hangouts have become a really powerful communication tool for Google. The Mountain View giant has been improving the service ever since it launched back in May 2013. Many people around the world use this tool in order to not only text to other people, but talk to them, no matter if we’re talking about voice or video calls. Google Hangouts are a very popular video chatting tool though, especially for conference calls and such. That being said, we’ve been hearing lately that the version 4.0 of Google Hangouts for Android is en route, and that it will support Android Wear voice messages. Well, some new info just surfaced, read on.

Jordanna Chord, a software engineer over at Google, has released some really interesting info on her Google+ page. She announced that the company is now rolling out a new invitation settings feature which will make it easier for you to communicate. You’ll be able to turn on this feature, and once you do that, friends with your verified phone number / e-mail will be able to contact you directly. The screenshot of the settings screen was also attached to this post, and you can check it out below this article. As you can see, there’s a ‘Recommended’ setting which will let people in your circles, with your phone number / e-mail address get through to you directly, and the rest of the folk will have to use invitations.

The source said that Google is rolling out this feature, which suggests that the rollout has already started. We don’t know if this is a part of the 4.0 update, but it seems like it isn’t, the Hangouts 4.0 update didn’t start rolling out yet and according to previous info it won’t be available that fast. The 4.0 update is still in its testing phase and it reportedly isn’t available for the global rollout just yet, we’ll keep you informed as far as that goes. Now, regarding this new feature, it should be hitting your devices any day now, and some of you might even have the update. If you do not, be patient, it will land soon enough.
