Gmail has always been a very good service from Google, since its storage space was continuously increasing, there was no longer a need to delete emails, of course, we were given that option a little later. Now, it can be used to manage several accounts into one unified platform and the mobile app has always been useful as well as its widget, which allows to scroll through some emails and create new ones with the touch of a button. Then, Google created Inbox, a new way of organizing emails and some other useful information like calendar events or reminders in a single app.

When it was introduced last year, it was available only if users got an invitation, but it has been available for a while for everyone as a mobile app and even in the browser Google wants users to switch to this new interface. Inbox gathers some information from the received emails and shows it in the form of cards like those found on Google Now (which also gathers information from emails), so users can see their trip information, recent purchases or pictures in a glance. Contact information is also retrieved and shown when needed. Emails are categorized into different categories so there’s no need to switch into the category tabs.

Now, the mobile app has been updated with a new widget making some of the most used features easier to access. The change was announced in the Google+ Inbox page and it consists in two buttons, one for composing emails, and another for creating reminders. These buttons show up in the home screen and they can be handled just like app shortcuts, so they can be docked so that they could be accessible on every home screen or they can be put into a folder to save some space in the home screen. If you have multiple accounts associated with Gmail, you can add these new widgets like any other to a home screen and choose the account you want to access when composing an email, so it is now quicker than ever to access this features.
