Kirin 950 Specs Surface, The SoC Might Launch Soon

Huawei has unveiled quite a few solid smartphones this year, as well as their first Android Wear-powered smartwatch which also looks really sleek. The company has showcased three devices as part of their P8 line earlier this year, including the company’s flagship, the Huawei P8. Soon after that, this Chinese smartphone OEM has unveiled the Honor 4C mid-range smartphone, and two mid-range tablets. The latest offering by this company is Huawei Honor 7 which was announced about a week ago, a high-end smartphone made out of metal.

That being said, all of the aforementioned devices are powered by one of Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin SoC, and we have some news regarding an upcoming Kirin-branded processor, read on. The latest device Huawei released is fueled by Kirin 935, Huawei’s 64-bit octa-core processor. Well, the Kirin 950 specs surfaced in China, let’s see what’s new. The Kirin 950 will also be a 64-bit octa-core chip (quad-core Cortex A53 + quad-core Cortex A72), though Huawei will be able to clock this thing up to 2.4GHz. ARM’s Mali T880 GPU will ship with this SoC, and the chip will support dual-channel LPDDR4 (25.6GB/s). The Tensilica Hi-Fi 4 DSP will also be a part of this package, and an i7 co-processor (sensor hub + connectivity + security) will also be included here. UFS 2.0, eMMC 5.1 flash storage is also listed here, and this processor will support Category 10 4G LTE speeds, as well as USB 3.0 connectivity. The Kirin 950 will also support Bluetooth 4.2, which was to be expected.

Well, according to the leaked info, we can expect it to hit the market in Q3 or Q4 this year, so it is quite possible Huawei might launch it soon. This China-based company has announced quite a few high-end devices thus far this year, but they’re still expected to announce a couple more, including the Mate 8 phablet. Considering the release date of this SoC, it is quite possible that Huawei plans to include it in the Mate 8 package. That’s only a guess on our part, we’ll have to wait and see, stay tuned.
