Huawei has announced a number of devices this year, and many of those were actually high-end devices. Back in April, this China-based smartphone OEM has unveiled their flagship P8 line of devices, the Huawei P8, P8Max and P8 Lite. The Huawei P8 is the company’s flagship smartphone, the P8Max is their premium phablet, and the P8 Lite is a mid-range smartphone which is made out of metal. The company has also showcased the Honor 7 high-end smartphone a couple of weeks back. That being said, some of Huawei’s devices sport a really interesting feature that you may have, or may have not heard about. Either way, we’re here to talk more about it, read on.
All of the aforementioned devices actually ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed, and Huawei’s EMUI (Emotion UI) 3.1 skin is installed on top of it. Huawei’s Android skin is somewhat different than what we’re used to with stock Android, but you probably already know that. Anyhow, their skin is filled with all sorts of features, some of which are rather interesting. The Huawei P8 and Huawei Honor 7, for example, ship with FingerSense technology which is built into those devices. Interesting enough, FingerSense isn’t exactly Huawei’s technology. This tech actually comes from a company called Qeexo, a company which has announced a partnership with Huawei quite recently.
So, what is FingerSense? Well, this is basically a tech which can recognize different types of touches on the display. The FingerSense tech knows if you’re touching the display with your finger, fingernail, knuckle or a stylus. Thanks to this ability, it can offer all sorts of shortcut gestures for you to take advantage of. If you own a Huawei P8 or Honor 7, you can, for example, knock twice on the display with your knuckle and the phone will capture a screenshot of whatever is on the display. You can also circle an area of the screen with your knuckle and it will select only that portion of the display in order to take a screenshot of. There are various uses for this technology, you can also select a text on the display with your knuckle without the need to long press on it, etc.
