Meizu has been doing really good this year as far as smartphone sales go. This Chinese smartphone OEM has managed to sell 8.9 million devices in the first half of this year, which are great numbers for the company. Interesting enough, this represents a 540% increase in sales for Meizu, which is great. Yesterday’s report even stated that Meizu is managing to do so well in terms of smartphone sales, that the company might be able to make up for a rather significant loss they faced last year. Meizu started to go in the right direction when they introduced the Meizu MX4 in September last year, ever since then their devices are sold like hotcakes.
Anyhow, the company has announced three new smartphones in the last couple of weeks, the Meizu M2 Note, MX5 and M2. The first and last device are mid-rangers, while the MX5 is the company’s new flagship. The M2 Note is an affordable and well-built 5.5-inch device which has been selling like crazy apparently. According to a report from China, Meizu has managed to sell 1.2 million M2 note units in the past month or so, which is great for Meizu. Meizu is actually aiming to sell 20 million devices before the end of the year, and by the looks of it, they might be able to hit that goal. The company might announce additional device(s) before the end of the year, but they already have a number of great devices available for purchase.
As a side note, the MX5 Pro was expected to launch before the end of 2015, but according to the latest report, that might not happen at all. Anyhow, the M2 Note features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IGZO display, along with 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB). This handset is powered by MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core SoC, and a non-removable 3,100mAh battery is also a part of this package. The 13-megapixel camera can be found on the back of the M2 Note, and a 5-megapixel snapper is available up front. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Meizu’s Flyme UI 4.5 available on top of Google’s OS. The M2 Note measures 150.9 x 75.2 x 8.7mm, while it weighs 149 grams.
