Meizu did a great job in 2014, this China-based company released a couple of great smartphones last year and managed to get attention from a lot of people. A couple of months ago they confirmed that they’re selling more devices than ever before, and those number were expected to increase this year as well. Well, Meizu has just released their official sales for the first half of this year, let’s check out how is the company doing thus far, shall we.
This Chinese smartphone OEM has shared their results for the first half of this year via their official Weibo (Chinese social network) page. Meizu says that they managed to sell 8.9 million devices, which is a huge increase for this company compared to last year. How big of a difference is this? Well, the company’s sales are up 540%, which is truly staggering. This really puts things into perspective and gives you an idea how much exposure the company received in the second half of 2014, and how well-received their devices were.
That being said, it is worth mentioning that Meizu launched their new flagship a couple of days ago, the Meizu MX5. This handset really does have a lot to offer, and its price point is great compared to some other flagships. The Meizu MX5 features a 5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM, various internal storage options and is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10 (MT6795) 64-bit octa-core processor. This smartphone also sports a 20.7-megapixel (Sony’s IMX230 sensor) camera on the back along with a dual-LED, dual tone flash and a Laser Autofocus. Fingerprint scanner is also a part of this package, and same can be said about fast charging capability and 4G LTE connectivity. On top of it all, this handset is made out of metal.
Meizu MX4, MX4 Pro, M1 Note and M1 were extremely well-received by consumers, and it seems like the same thing will happen with M2 Note and MX5 as well. Meizu still has to announce at least two devices this year, the M2 and MX5 Pro, but it remains to be seen if they have something else planned. Either way, it will be interesting to see how many devices are they going to be able to sell by the end of this year.
