More or less everyone thought Motorola is about to announce only two devices today, the Moto X and Moto G, but the company has managed to surprise everyone and announce 3 of them. The company has announced two Moto X devices, the Moto X Style and Moto X Play, and the third-gen Moto G smartphone. That being said, we’re here to take a look at the Moto X Play that was announced quite recently, let’s take a look what this smartphone has to offer shall we.
The Motorola Moto X Play features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB). The device is powered by the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core SoC manufactured by Qualcomm. The 21-megapixel camera is located on the back of the Moto X Play (f/2.0 aperture, dual-LED dual tone flash), and a 5-megapixel snapper is available up front. The Moto X Play comes with a 3,630mAh battery, and offers 4G LTE connectivity. The phone also sports a water repellent coating, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed on it. Keep mind that this is an almost stock Android build, but some of Motorola’s features / apps are installed on top of it: Moto Voice, Moto Assist, Moto Display and Moto Actions. The Moto X Play also offers TurboPower charging, which is the fastest smartphone charging in the world according to the company.
You’ll also be able to customize the Moto X Play via Moto Maker, and the device offers replaceable Cover Shells and Flip Shells. The Moto X Play will be available in various countries across Europe, Latin America and Canada, but it won’t land in the US. Motorola Moto X Play is basically a mid-range smartphone looking at its specs, but this device sure does look premium. It feels like Motorola decided to release three devices, each of which belongs in a certain category. The Moto G is an entry-level handset, Moto X Play is right above it, and the Moto X Style is the company’s new flagship. Anyhow, we’ll report back if any additional details surface, so stay tuned for additional info.
