Huawei Mate7 is Huawei’s flagship phablet for 2014. This device was one of the best phablet offerings last year, and consumers’ expectations for its successor are quite high. More or less everyone assumed that the Mate8 will land during IFA in Berlin in September, and the company has confirmed yesterday that they’ll hold an event in Berlin on September 2nd. It was logical to assume that Huawei intends to launch the Mate8 at said event, but it seems that might not be the case, at least according to the newest rumor, read on.
The rumor says that Huawei might opt to release the Huawei Mate7 Plus or Mate7S instead of the Mate8 in September. Why is that? Well, it seems like Huawei wants to include their Kirin 950 SoC in the Mate8, but that chip won’t be available until October. The rumor says that Huawei intends to postpone the Mate8 launch until the end of this year, or perhaps even the beginning of 2016. This is the first time we hear anything about the Mate7 Plus or Mate7S, so take this info with a grain of salt, as it usually goes with rumors.
According to various leaks, the Mate8 will sport a 6-inch 1080p or QHD display along with 3 or 4GB of RAM. The company is said to release two models of Mate8, the 3GB of RAM variant with 32GB of in-built storage, and the 4GB of RAM model with 64GB of internal storage. Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor is said to power this thing, and a 20.7-megapixel camera will quite probably be included on the back of this phablet. The 8-megapixel shooter will reportedly be located up front, and Android Lollipop will come pre-installed on this device along with Huawei’s EMUI (Emotion UI) skin which will be installed on top of Google’s operating system. The fingerprint scanner will almost certainly going to be a part of this package as well. It is also worth mentioning that the Huawei Mate8 will be made out of metal, much like its predecessor.
