Samsung Officially Begins Samsung Pay Testing In South Korea

Almost a day does not pass without Samsung making the headlines in some capacity or another. In fact, just as the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge sales news began to fade in their intensity, they were immediately replaced by the latest leaks and rumor news emerging about the next generation Note device, the Galaxy Note 5 and the next S6 variant, the Galaxy S6 Edge+. However, they have not been the only Samsung products and services that have been making the news of late. In fact, one of the other big headline grabbing Samsung news stories of this year was that of Samsung Pay.

Long before it was actually announced, the rumors began to mount that Samsung was working on their own payment solution, which at MWC was finally unveiled as the aptly named ‘Samsung Pay’. Since then, this is quickly becoming seen as the next major competitor for the likes of Apple Pay and Google’s latest reinvention of online payments, Google Pay. As such, many eyes have been watching the development of Samsung’s option which looks to include their recently acquired LoopPay technology into Samsung devices. Well, as the major rollout of Samsung Pay draws closer, it seems today Samsung have announced the launch of its first public testing.

Samsung have announced that Samsung Pay has entered the trial phase, although this is a small trial phasing and is limited to customers in the company’s home country, South Korea. Therefore, some owners of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in South Korea are getting the opportunity to give the new payment option a try. In fact, almost a week ago, reports began to emerge suggesting that the testing in South Korea had already begun. However, the statement sent out by Samsung states the testing officially commenced operations yesterday. As well as the actual announcement of the start of the testing phase, Samsung also took the opportunity to detail how easy it is to load cards to your Samsung Pay account and generally use the app and manage your Samsung Pay account.
