T-Mobile Announces Q2 2015 Earnings, $8.2B in Revenue

While T-Mobile had already announced that they had added 2.1 million customers in Q2 of this year, now the company is releasing all of their numbers for the quarter, including the fact that their increase in revenue year-over-year has increase by double digits. Let’s break down the customers coming into T-Mobile one more time. 2.1 Million total customers in the quarter, that also makes this the ninth consecutive quarter for T-Mobile adding over a million. 1 million postpaid net adds. This marks the fourth straight quarter that they’ve seen over 1 million postpaid net adds. Out of that 1 million postpaid net adds, 760,000 were phones. Their churn rate is also 1.3%.

Now let’s move onto the real numbers, the cash. For the quarter, T-Mobile brought in $8.2 billion in total revenues. That’s a 14% increase over Q2 2014. Of that number, $6.1 billion were from service revenues. Which has increases 12% year over year. $1.8 billion adjusted EBITDA, $360 million net income. That is a huge difference from last quarter where there was a loss of $63 million. Earnings per share also increased to $0.42 from losing $0.09 in the previous quarter. T-Mobile is also touting a 4% increase on branded postpaid phone ARPU over the previous quarter. And this also returns them to a positive sequential growth.

During the quarter, the company has also been improving their network. With having over 290 million people covered by their 4G LTE network. They are right on target to hit their 300 million goal by the end of the year. Wideband LTE is now available in 212 markets, with their goal of 250 markets for the end of 2015 still in sight. T-Mobile has also already deployed 141 markets with 700MHz A-Block spectrum. Finally, MetroPCS network and customer migration is complete. With 100% of their network spectrum being re-farmed.

With all this great news of adding over 2 million subscribers, again, for T-Mobile, they are also raising subscriber outlook for 2015 and maintaining adjusted EBITDA target. They are now expecting to add about 3.4 to 3.9 million branded postpaid net adds in 2015. While maintaining the target of $6.8 to $7.2 billion of Adjusted EBITDA, maintaining target of $4.4 to 4.7 billion in cash capex. Also the company is noting that these financial guidances are excluding any impact of JUMP! On Demand.

Overall, a pretty great quarter for the Uncarrier. Not only did they add another 2 million users to their network, but they also increased revenue by quite a bit as well as going from losing money to bringing in a nice looking profit. It’ll be interesting to see what John Legere has to say on the earnings call later today.
