We have been seeing a lot of leaks of Motorola’s new mid-range offering lately, it started with a few leaked pictures of the back of the device showing a new direction of the company’s new design language with a module that integrates the camera, the LED flash and the dimple with Motorola’s logo that their phones have included since they changed their strategy. There are even videos of that alleged prototype of a working Moto G showing some of the specs of the device. Then, some officially looking renders have surfaced confirming what we’d seen so far, which isn’t a complete redesign of the phone.
More recently, an image of some color combinations for the phone leaked, showing that the aforementioned module may be made out of metal and that it would be one of the elements that could be customized by using Motorola’s Moto Maker along with the back plate, of course, being the first time that this tool could be used for the Moto G. Finally, we learned from a dummy unit of this phone that the phone will be IPX7 certified, making it water resistant.
Motorola has sent invitations for an event on July 28th, where they might have hinted about the launch of this device, and with all these leaks, it could turn out to be true. Now, the phone has been spotted in the import and export datasheet of the Indian site Zauba, confirming not only that the phone is being tested in that country, but also some of its rumored internals. There are 95 units in black color and 95 units in white being sent from Hong Kong to be tested and the listed amount of RAM of the phones is 2 GB, just like the rumors dictated.
Other known specs of the phone are an HD 5-inch screen, a quad-core processor, Micro SD card support with 8 GB of internal storage like the one spotted in the listing but there could also be a version with 16 GB. A battery with 2,040 mAh capacity and a combination of a 13-megapixel camera on the back, plus a 5-megapixel one on the front were also seen on the dummy and last, but not least, 4G connectivity support, which hopefully will be included in every version of the phone. We’ll be able to confirm all of this relatively soon.
