Xiaomi is one of the most important Chinese smartphone manufacturers, it has several devices from the lower end to the high end, but all of them offer good specs for the price asked by the company. One of the most anticipated smartphones from the company is the Redmi Note 2 because its predecessor was one of their best sellers and the new device is supposed to upgrade some important areas. The device has been leaked a few times, even in pictures, showing that it may feature a metal body opposed to the shiny plastic one used in the first iteration.
Usually the more a device gets leaked, the closer it gets to be released and today the Redmi Note 2 has passed through the TENAA certification confirming some of the rumored specs. Actually, there are two variants of the phone, the difference being their support for different networks. The screen size is the same as in the last version, 5.5 inches and even though the resolution is still a mystery, the size of the new phone is a little smaller and slimmer at 152.05 x 76.2 x 8.05mm compared to the measurements of the Redmi Note of 154 x 78.7 x 9.45mm, suggesting that the bezels around the screen will be reduced. The other fact that we got from its certification is that the battery in the new device has the smaller capacity of 3,020 mAh, probably to make the phone a little slimmer.
Other specs are yet to be confirmed, but it is rumored to be equipped with a MediaTek Helio X10 processor, but as the company would probably want to keep an affordable cost, there’s also rumors that one of the mid-range offerings from Qualcomm. The amount of RAM is supposed to stay the same at 2 GB and aside from the metal build, it is supposed to integrate a fingerprint scanner. Another possibility is that the company could increase the price of the phone and offer a 1080p display and the better processor, so we’ll have to wait and see how it turns out, but it looks like an interesting device. There’s a conference on July 16 where the company will supposedly introduce a metallic device, so this is a possibility of what to expect.
