Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Rumored To Cost 799 Yuan ($129)

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is one of the most leaked smartphones in the last couple of months. This mid-range offering by Xiaomi is due to arrive in the coming weeks, especially considering it’s been well over a year since its predecessor launched (March 2014). We’ve been seeing a ton of Redmi Note 2 content leak out, and the device has also been certified by TENAA (Chinese equivalent to the FCC) quite recently. We’ll talk about its specs in a second, but let’s take a look at the new leak which surfaced in China, shall we.

According to the newly leaked info, the Redmi Note 2 will cost 799 Yuan ($129) once Xiaomi launches it. If this leak is accurate, the Redmi Note 2 will be an extremely affordable handset which will quite probably manage to attract a lot of consumers. The device will sport really solid mid-range specifications, speaking of which let’s take a closer look at them. According to TENAA, the Redmi Note 2 will sport a 5.5-inch display, though the certification listing didn’t reveal its resolution. The certification has also revealed that the phone will measure 152.05 x 76.2 x 8.05mm, which makes it somewhat smaller (in every aspect) than the Redmi Note 2. The 3,020mAh battery has also been mentioned by TENAA, though the listing didn’t reveal any other specs this time around.

According to the previously leaked info, the Redmi Note 2 will also sport 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear-facing snapper (quite probably Sony’s IMX214 sensor). The device will reportedly giong to be powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10 64-bit octa-core SoC, though that’s not that likely. It’s more probable that Xiaomi will opt for a mid-range Snapdragon or MediaTek SoC, but we’ll find out soon. The Redmi Note 2 will ship with Android Lollipop pre-installed with Xiaomi’s MIUI skin on top of it. Previous leaks have also mentioned something about the Redmi Note 2 being made out of metal, but we’re still not sure those leaks were accurate. Either way, Xiaomi is expected to release this thing in the coming months and finally put an end to all the rumors that have been surfacing lately. Stay tuned for more info, we’ll report back as soon as something pops up.
