ZTE has released a number of really compelling, high-end devices this year, including the Nubia Z9, Nubia Z9 Max and the ZTE Axon variants. The company has, however, announced yet another press conference quite recently, and scheduled it for July 29th, which is today. It was rumored that the company plans to announce the ZTE V5, a handset which has leaked quite recently. Well, has announced that handset, but it’s not called ZTE V5, but ZTE Mighty 3.
The ZTE Mighty 3 features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080, 401 PPI) display, and it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor running at 1.5GHz which ships with an Adreno 405 GPU. This device will ship with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card). The 13-megapixel camera (f/2.2 aperture, 5P lens) can be found on the back of this handset, and ZTE’s NeoVision 5.0 camera software is bundled into the company’s Android skin. On the front side of this phone, you’ll find a 5-megapixel snapper for your selfie and video call needs. The device offers 4G LTE connectivity (FDD-LTE, TD-LTE), and it will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed with ZTE’s Nubia 3.0 UI on top of it. The device is made out of anodized aluminum, it sports a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, and packs in a 3,000mAh battery.
The ZTE Mighty 3, is much like its predecessor, a mid-range handset. A number of rumors we’ve seen in the past few weeks were completely wrong considering the fact this smartphone isn’t exactly a high-end offering, nor does it sport dual camera setup on the back. That being said, the ZTE Mighty 3 is a premium build mid-range smartphone, and considering the fact its pricing starts from 999 Yuan ($161), many consumers might see this phone as a viable option. Having that in mind, the competition in China is fierce. There are a ton of affordable, and yet well-specced smartphones out there. Speaking of which, Meizu has also held a press conference today and announced their entry-level Meizu M2 handset, click here if you’d like to check it out. The ZTE Mighty 3 will be available for reservations starting today in China, and will go on sale soon.
EDIT: ZTE reached out to us and basically said that this device doesn’t have a name in English at the moment. The ‘ZTE Mighty 3’ is a literal translation from Chinese language, so keep that in mind.
