ZTE V5 Event Invitation Contains A Smashed Nokia 1110

Meizu is well-known for releasing a rather odd event invitations. This Chinese smartphone OEM has actually packed in the back cover of the iPhone 5C back in December, as part of the M2 Note event invitation. Well, the company has done it again about a week ago when they shipped out the Nokia 1110 as part of the Meizu M2 launch event invitation. People initially thought this is some sort of a Nokia – Meizu partnership teaser, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. That being said, ZTE has released their event invitations as well, and they’re actually rather interesting as well, and are in a way connected to what Meizu did, read on.

ZTE has released a teaser image for their July 29th event a couple of days ago, and the company has now sent out invitations for that very same event. This Chinese smartphone OEM has also packed in the Nokia 1110 in the box, but their devices are actually smashed! It is more than obvious that ZTE wanted to send a message to Meizu by doing this. Nokia 1110 was one of the best selling devices of its time, and Meizu took that as a symbolic teaser for the M2 launch, while ZTE is probably trying to say that they intend to defeat Meizu out in the market.

So, what will ZTE announce at said event? Well, according to the recent leaks we’ve seen, the ZTE V5. We don’t really have any spec information when it comes to this device, but a number of images leaked and gave us a good look at the phone. The ZTE V5 will be made out of metal, and will sport a fingerprint scanner on its back. We don’t even know whether this will be a mid-range or a high-end device, but judging by ZTE’s invitation and indirect dig at Meizu, this will probably be a mid-ranger. Anyhow, the device will be announced on July 29th, which is the same day Meizu is announcing their M2 handset. Stay tuned for more details, we’ll let you know if anything new pops up before the two devices get announced.
