One of the bigger new features on the new Moto G this year, is the Moto Maker customization. With the previous two models, you could swap out the backs for another color. Which is still possible here on the Moto G 3rd-Gen. But bringing Moto Maker to the Moto G makes it even better, as you can now customize just about every aspect of your Moto G. And the best part, it’s all free. Well for the most part. If you choose to engrave your Moto G, it’s gonna cost you an extra $5. There are basically two configurations of the Moto G, the base has 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM, while the more expensive model has 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM, for just $40 more. Even at $219, it’s still a great smartphone and a great choice.

Basically, you’re going to head to Motorola.com, and then choose the new Moto G. From there you’ll be taken to the Moto G’s micro site where it shows you all sorts of features of the new smartphone as well as what color combinations are possible. Even though they are basically endless. Tap on Build Yours, to get started building your Moto G.
Inside Moto Maker, you’ll be asked to choose your front color, back color and accents to start out with. I really like the navy blue back, however that one has delayed shipping as many others like that color as well. There are about 10 colors to choose from for the accents and back colors. However, for the front you are stuck with just black or white.
Moto Maker is a great tool from Motorola to customize your device, which launched in 2013 with the original Moto X and just recently started to expand. First to the Moto 360 earlier this year and now to the Moto G 3rd Gen. Of course, the new Moto X Style, and Moto X Play will also be available through Moto Maker.
