ARCHOS has already released a number of smartphones this year and only this morning the company announced and introduced the latest addition to their Diamond range, in the form of the ARCHOS Diamond S. However, the company also has a more budget placed Helium line of devices and now along with the latest Diamond smartphone, ARCHOS has unveiled the latest Helium smartphone. This one follows on from the previously released 50d Helium and has now been confirmed as the ARCHOS 50e Helium. In fact, the company has this morning launched two versions, the Helium 50e and the 50 Cesium, with the only difference being the operating system they run on. While the 50e Helium runs on Android, the 50 Cesium runs on Windows 10.
In terms of the specs, the ARCHOS 50e Helium comes equipped with a 5-inch IPS display which sports a 1280 x 720 resolution. Inside, the 50e Helium is loaded with 1GB RAM and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 Quad-core processor (clocking at 1.1 GHz). In terms of storage, the 50e Helium is equipped with 8GB internally and come equipped with a microSD card slot for further expansion (upto 32GB). In terms of cameras, the 50e Helium offers an 8-megapixel rear camera (with Autofocus and LED Flash) along with a more modest 2-megapixel front facing camera. Additional features on offer include dual-SIM, 2G, 3G and 4G LTE support, while the device comes powered by a 2,100 mAh battery. As mentioned, the 50e Helium comes running on Android and the version offered pre-installed is Android 5.1 (Lollipop).
One of the best features and likely biggest selling points of the 50e Helium will be the price. Although, the specs are not high-end, this device is not designed to be a costly device and ARCHOS has confirmed that the 50e Helium will be available to buy for only £99 in Europe. In terms of availability, both the Windows and Android versions are slated for a November release time. However, there are no current details on what markets the 50e Helium will become available in. However, like the latest Diamond device announced this morning, ARCHOS has confirmed the 50e Helium will be presented at this year’s IFA event in Berlin.
