Google Celebrates Creative Code With New Android Experiments

Android is a somewhat fragmented platform. Although, fragmented in a very good way as the platform is completely open source. As a result, anyone, anywhere can tinker with Android and see what they come with. In fact, this is quite possibly how sub-Android platforms like Android Auto, Android TV and Android Wear came about. As the main Android platform has evolved, changed, was tinkered with, areas like the ones mentioned, naturally evolved. With so many different aspects now to Android, the future of the platform as a whole looks to be one which is even more full of endless possibilities.

Well, it now seems Google is in the mood for celebrating everything Android is and how creative it can be, as they have this morning announced the launch of their new Android Experiments website. The new website is designed to celebrate all the various components of Android and especially the more out there and creative Android work. According to the blog post listing, going forward, Android Experiments will act a “showcase for of inspiring projects on Android”. The blog posts also notes that there are currently twenty experiments which you can check out right now. Although, the blog post does also act as an open invitation to developers to submit their experiments for consideration. In fact, regardless of your level of proficiency in developing, Google is extending the invitation to those who are interested in showcasing their Android creative side by submitting their offerings.

In terms of the content already up there, it seems the website follows in the tradition of the already available Chrome Experiments, albeit with the focus on Android instead of Chrome. Therefore, there are experiments based on Android in general, Android Wear and even hardware hacks.
