There’s just a little under a week before Samsung’s Unpacked event on August 13th, which is next Thursday, and also where it’s expected that we’ll see Samsung unveil two new devices: the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+. No doubt there will be a range of accessories available for both smartphones after they launch as Samsung typically tends to give consumers a wide set of options to accessorize their brand new device. When it comes to the latter in this regard, it seems that an image leak of an alleged new case for the Galaxy S6 Edge+ has surfaced online, one that aims to give users an enhanced typing experience.
The image in question is rumored to be an upcoming case for the Galaxy S6 Edge+ which incorporates a physical set of keyboard keys for typing instead of using the touch keyboard interface on the display. It would seem that as a society we still can’t let go of the physical keyboard on our phones and Samsung thinks a majority of users may want such an accessory. Aside from the keyboard, the rest of the case appears relatively normal and compares quite similarly to other cases. It’s most likely a plastic shell case which the phone can snap into, and then users can snap on an accompanying keyboard portion of the case for physical keys.
Just like one might find on the touch keyboards built into the phone, the physical keyboard cover has a full QWERTY set of buttons, along with delete, enter, and symbol keys, as well as your home, recents, and system back buttons since those would be covered by the keyboard if users clip it on. While many people might find this to be more of a hindrance than a helpful tool, there are probably those out there who might actually appreciate and prefer something like this as opposed to a traditional case. It’s also worth noting that there is no confirmation this case is actually something that Samsung or another accessory company is working on. Having said that, it’s entirely possible that this is a real case working towards production for after the phone launch and it could be made by someone other than Samsung, as most of Samsung’s accessories for current products seem to mesh more with the new sleek design of their latest phones.
