This month Samsung unleashed its brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 5. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 along with its partner the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ are the talk of the town in the tech community. Both phones offer the latest and greatest Samsung has to offer, and they represent the new line of defense in Samsung’s arsenal as it attempts to keep its crown as the king of Android phones. So while everyone around the world is talking about the new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, people seem to have forgotten about last year’s Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 while maybe not the latest and great is still an amazing phone in its own right. Blessed with a beautiful screen, strong camera and close to the top of the line specs the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is still a top flight phone. Today while the world clamors over the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Samsung started the Android Lollipop 5.1.1 rollout for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 International version.
As what is starting to become customary Samsung is beginning the implementation for Android Lollipop 5.1.1 in Poland with version SM-N910C. After that Samsung will start to extend the update to other countries first in Europe than the rest of the world following that. The update will consist of a litany of items commonly found in updates of this nature. There will be better stability, battery life, memory management and performance improvements baked in along with a new add-on called Smart Manager. Smart Manager shows you an outlook of your RAM, storage, and battery use in one clean layout. All those updates will improve an already good device, but the elephant in the room that Samsung is not addressing in this update is the Stagefright bug lurking in the shadows. For those in need of a refresher, Stagefright is the name of a hole in Android that can be attached using video messages in text. This flaw was found in Android systems as far back as Android OS Froyo in 2010. Every tech company and developer in the game have been scrambling to patch this bug, and the fact that Samsung is updating the International Galaxy Note 4 and not including a patch for Stagefright is very odd.
Alas for those in Poland and eventually all over the world this update will come by OTA. But for those of you that prefer a different method there is always Samsung Kies, which can do the trick once your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is connected to your trusty Mac or PC.
