Lenovo's Vibe S1 Rumored To Feature Dual Front Cameras

Lenovo’s Vibe S1 has been rumored for a long time now, but so far, the company has not made the device official, even though online speculations had initially claimed that it would be announced back at the Mobile World Congress 2015, held in Barcelona earlier this year. The smartphone has already got its approval from China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center, TENAA. While that particular listing and a number of other leaks have detailed some of the hardware specifications of the upcoming smartphone, the one interesting aspect that had apparently been overlooked thus far, is the alleged presence of two separate camera sensors on the front of the device.

On Wednesday, prolific leaker of smartphone news, @upleaks, claimed through a post on Twitter that the Vibe S1 smartphone will actually come with an extra camera on its front. If true, this will make the Vibe S1 the very first smartphone in the world to come with two front-facing selfie-cams. It is worth mentioning that HTC’s flagship One M9 smartphone already comes with dual rear cameras, which, the firm claims, allows the device to gauge depth better. Meanwhile, the front-on images of the Vibe S1 does seem to show an extra cavity next to the earpiece, which had thus far gone unnoticed by one and all. The extra camera is said to help in taking images with bokeh effects.

Coming to the rumored hardware specs of the smartphone, the Vibe S1 is thought to be made out of plastic, and features a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display. The smartphone will reportedly be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 SoC, which comes with a 64-bit octa-core CPU with eight Cortex A53 cores. While four of the cores are clocked at a frequency of 1.1 GHz, four others are clocked as high as 1.7 GHz. The chip also comes with an embedded Adreno 405 GPU. The Vibe S1 is also said to sport 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded with the help of a microSD card. The device is said to run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, in the form of Lenovo’s proprietary Vibe UI. According to listing on TENAA, the handset measures 143 mm in length, 70.8 mm in width and 7.85 mm in thickness. As for its weight, the Vibe S1 is said to tilt the scales at 130 grams.
