Moto G 2015: Make sure the Back Cover is on Tight!

The Moto G 2015 is bound to be one of the best selling smartphones this year. With its price starting at just $179, and the upgraded model going for $219, it’s definitely a great value for what you’re getting. We recently reviewed the Moto G, which you can read that here. One of the big features of the low-cost Moto G 2015 is the fact it’s waterproof. Which is a big deal, seeing as most smartphones in this price range are not waterproof or water resistant. Another one of those features that were brought to the Moto G includes being able to swap out the back cover. Seeing as it can be customized through Moto Maker, you can also buy replacement backs. But here’s a quick PSA when it comes to swapping out back covers.

The Moto G 2015 is water resistant. However, if the back cover is not on tight, it won’t be water resistant anymore. So whether you’re taking off the back cover to swap out SIM cards or microSD cards, or just swapping out back covers, make sure you put the back on tight. It’s pretty simple to do. Go along all of the edges and make sure they all snap into place. Also go along the strip in the back and make sure it’s tight. If it’s not completely snapped down, water could seep in, and thus it will no longer be water resistant, unfortunately.

Water resistance is a great feature to have on a smartphone, especially one that is just $179 off contract. But we still must take pre-cautions to be sure that it remains water resistant. In case we do accidentally drop it into the toilet or a pool. That way we haven’t fried our great looking smartphone from Motorola. The Moto G is indeed waterproof, and you can check out our video demonstrating that, here. The Moto G 2015 is on sale now at Best Buy, Amazon and Motorola’s website. However, only Motorola’s website allows you to customize the colors of the device through Moto Maker. You can see examples below of the back cover not being completely on tight on the Moto G, for those wondering.
