Photos of a new Huawei device that’s tp be part of the company’s Honor series have recently shown up at Chinese regulation website TENNA, showcasing what looks to be a sliding camera mechanism. The images show the rear camera can be slid upward to reveal the front facing camera and front facing LED flash. This is an interesting approach to the device design which keeps the front display free and clear of a camera lens until the user would slide the camera on the back up into position to allow for front facing photos. At current the device is listed as the Huawei ATH-AL00 although that is likely just an internal code name for the device.
Rumored specifications for this new Honor series phone will be 3GB or 4GB of RAM and feature Huawei’s in-house Kirin processor. Although the specs haven’t been listed and there’s no word on the quality of either camera, another unique feature of the device seems to be a button on the side which acts as a sort of locking mechanism for the camera release, and when pressed it allows the user to slide the camera up into place for use. The presence of a front flash could mean Huawei is taking an approach to better quality images from the front camera and therefore could mean a decent quality sensor.
Two trays on the side likely reveal dual sim slots or a single sim slot and a microSD card slot. So far there is no rumor on the amount of internal storage of the device but it’s stated that it will have a second variant which will be offered that could end up coming with a higher amount of storage and possibly a higher amount of RAM. If that’s the case it isn’t known whether or not those would be the only differences when it comes to hardware, mainly because none of the specs are known at this point for the model pictured here. The design of the phone to be possibly a metal frame with the power button, volume rocker and SIM trays all on one side. The side of the display is also unfortunately unknown but it does have minimal side bezels which is sure to entice some consumers.
