OnePlus has had a mixed reception when it comes to the public. While a large number of people love the company, their style and their devices. It would seem just as many have been put off by the company, their style and their general approach to marketing. However, the most divisive element of their marketing strategy has always been the invite system. While some are happy to wait to receive an invite to purchase, others are often frustrated by the whole process and sometimes enough to be put off buying altogether. Well, needless to say, it has been widely reported that the invite system has made a return with the OnePlus 2 and some invites have been already going out to the select few. Although, recently OnePlus did confirm that they were temporarily slowing down the invite roll out in certain areas and regions. Much to the dismay of many, this seemed to be a measure in place to deal with what seemed to be a quality control issue with the Type-C USB cables.
Well, the latest on invites it that it now looks as though OnePlus are ready to begin their rolling out of invites in a much more proactive way. Although, the details are very limited, Carl Pei of OnePlus sent out a tweet yesterday stating that the roll out will be hitting full swing soon enough. In fact, the exact words he used stated they were planning on starting their “aggressive invite rollout startsnext weekend“. How aggressive this will be or what they mean by aggressive remains to be seen. Although, at the very least the tweet does confirm that invites will be coming much more readily going forward. The tweet also does not mention if this is for specific regions or areas, therefore, the assumption is that it will apply worldwide.
As such, if you have been waiting for an invite, it looks like “next weekend” is the time to start keeping an eye on your mailbox for it to land. In the meantime though, you might want to check out the news which came through earlier today about a reported grounding issue affecting the home button on the OnePlus 2.
