After months of rumors and leaks, Samsung has finally announced the Galaxy Note 5 today, but that’s not the only handset that was announced. The much-rumored Galaxy S6 Edge+ has also been unveiled by this Korea-based tech giant. Just as we thought, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is essentially a bigger variant of the Galaxy S6 Edge which was launched back in March. This handset sports a curved ‘Dual Edge’ display, and will definitely suit those of you who want a rather sleek looking phablet. Anyhow, let’s take a closer look at this phablet’s specifications, shall we.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is quite similar to the Galaxy Note 5 in terms of specifications. The two devices also look rather similar at first, but when you look closer you’ll notice that the Galaxy S6 Edge+ actually has curved displays on both sides, much like the Galaxy S6 Edge. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ sports a 5.7-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440, 518ppi) Super AMOLED display, 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32 or 64GB of UFS 2.0 in-built storage. Samsung’s Exynos 7420 14nm 64-bit octa-core chip fuels the Galaxy S6 Edge+, a 3,000mAh battery is also included here, much like on the Galaxy Note 5.
As far as camera sensors go, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ rocks a 16-megapixel OIS camera (f/1.9 aperture) on the back, and a 5-megapixel shooter (f/1.9 aperture) up front. This phablet comes with support for Fast Charging and Fast Wireless Charging, though you’ll need to buy the wireless charging pad separately in order to take advantage of that function. NFC and MST are also on board here, and same can be said for the following sensors: Accelerometer, Proximity, RGB Light, Geo-magnetic, Gyro, Fingerprint Scanner, Barometer, Hall and HRM. Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz) can be found on the inside as well, as well as Cat.9 4G LTE connectivity. Bluetooth 4.2 LE and USB 2.0 are also a part of this package.
As far as software goes, Android 5.1 Lollipop comes out of the box here with TouchWiz UI installed on top of it. Improved KNOX security, and Ultra High Quality Audio (UHQA) for higher-quality sound are all included here. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ measures 154.4 x 75.8 x 6.9mm, while it weighs 153 grams. The device will be available in Black Sapphire and Gold Platinum color options.
