The fifth generation of the Galaxy Note lineup, which is arguably one of the best-selling smartphone lineups ever to run on Android is here. The Galaxy Note 5 is here. Samsung has just taken the wraps off the device on stage in New York City at their Unpacked event.
The Galaxy Note 5 has a 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 resolution) Super AMOLED display with a 518 PPI. Powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7420 processor and 4GB of RAM. There are also 32GB and 64GB models available and both storage variants of the Note 5 will be available in Black Sapphire and White Pearl color options. Samsung chose to stick with the same camera from the Galaxy S6 which is a 16-megapixel camera, and we expect big things from it, after what the Galaxy S6 could do. Moving to the front, there is a 5-megapixel front facing camera. We’ll find out more when we get hands on soon. Powering this beast is a 3,000 mAh battery, which is pretty small when you consider last year’s Galaxy Note offering in the Note 4 had a 3,200 mAh battery inside. However, the Galaxy Note 5 does come sporting both fast charge and wireless charging so you will be able to remain charged and ready to go. The Galaxy note 5 comes running on Android 5.1.1 out of the box.
Samsung has also decided to bring the Galaxy S6’s design over to the Galaxy Note 5. And it looks great, but that also means no removable battery or a microSD card slot unfortunately. Which could be an issue for some Samsung hardcore users, as they love to have the ability to pop out a battery and pop in a new one. As well as store everything on a microSD card. Basically the Galaxy Note 5 looks like a larger Galaxy S6, but it’s kind of like a backwards Galaxy S6 Edge, as the back is curved like the front of the Galaxy S6 Edge is. Pretty unique, actually. Will be interesting to see how that fits in our hand. That’s the Galaxy Note 5, we’ll have more shortly once the hands-on stations open up. So stay tuned for plenty more on the Galaxy Note 5!
