Samsung has been rumored to add yet another series of smartphones to its already existing lineups of S, A, J, Z, K and E series devices, not to mention its hugely popular Note range! The new series was originally said to be dubbed the Galaxy “O” series, but newer reports have suggested that the devices as part of the new lineup may actually come with the “On” moniker rather than “O”; namely, the Galaxy Mega On and the Galaxy Grand On. No sooner had that news leaked than we have reports of the former being spotted on AnTuTu benchmark, which seems to confirm most of what we had previously read about the upcoming device from the South Korean consumer electronics major.
The one funny thing however, seems to be the extreme confusion over the possible nomenclature of the upcoming device. The leaked handset was originally said to have the model number SM-G600 and named the Galaxy Grand On. The current leak however mentions the device as having the model number SM-G6000 (one extra zero), and refers to it as the Galaxy O rather than Galaxy On. The phone which was earlier rumored to have been named the Galaxy Mega On, is now said to quite possibly launch as the Galaxy O7! Whichever way the cookie crumbles, the leak has managed to basically corroborate most of what we had read earlier about the device, as far as the hardware is concerned.
Coming to the what we have read thus far about the upcoming smartphone from Samsung, the device will come with the model number SM-G600 (or SM-G6000, depending on who you choose to believe). While the smaller Grand On is said to come with a 5-inch screen, the Mega On / O7 is believed to sport a 5.5-inch screen with a 720p display. The device very likely will be powered by a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chipset, which comes with a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz and an Adreno 306 GPU. The handset will also have 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. The phone will feature a 13-megapixel camera on the rear along with a 5-megapixel camera on the front. While the latest leak doesn’t tell us a whole lot more about the upcoming handset, the previous leak earlier in the week claimed that the SM-G600 will also have a microSD card slot for capacity expansion and come with a 3,000 mAh battery.
