Selfie-Centred Sony Xperia C5 Ultra Dual Launched In India

Japanese consumer electronics major Sony, on Wednesday, launched the Xperia C5 Ultra Dual smartphone in India at an MSRP of Rs. 29,990 ($450). The USP of the device is its 13-megapixel front-facing camera, which comes with an LED flash. The device was announced earlier this month, and is an addition to the ever-expanding line-up of devices targeted at social-media users who demand better front-facing selfie-cams. The smartphone is a rather large phablet with a 6-inch screen, and is the dual SIM version of the Xperia C5 Ultra, which has already been released in some non-dual-SIM markets. The smartphone will be offered in black, white and soft mint colors. It is expected to be available at retailers from this week itself, according to reports.

As for the hardware specs of the Xperia C5 Ultra, the smartphone features a large 6-inch display as already mentioned. The panel comes with a Full HD 1080p resolution with Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. The Xperia C5 Ultra Dual is powered by a MediaTek MT6752 chipset, which comes with an embedded octa-core 64-bit CPU clocked at a maximum of 1.7GHz, and a Mali-T760MP2 GPU. The handset comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by up to a whopping 200 GB with the help of a microSD card. The phone comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed and carries a 2,930 mAh battery.

Connectivity options on the Xperia C5 Ultra dual include 4G LTE and 3G HSPA+, and the device comes with dual SIM connectivity, as its name suggests. The smartphone also supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and NFC. The camera options include 13-megapixel Sony Exmor RS sensors on both the front and the rear, with the rear one featuring a 25 mm wide-angle lens with 80-degree field of view. The front camera meanwhile, comes with a 22 mm wide-angle lens with 88-degree field of view. Another interesting point to note is that even the front-facing camera on this device comes with an LED flash. Also, both cameras can shoot 1080p videos, which is the least you can expect at the price-point. Coming to the dimensions of the Xperia C5 Ultra Dual, the device measures 164.2 mm in length, 79.66 mm in width and 8.2 mm in thickness. The handset weighs in at 187 grams.
