Smartisan U1 Is Now Official, Mid-Range Specs For $140

Smartisan is yet another Chinese smartphone OEM that you might have, or might not have heard of. They’ve been around since 2012, and have released a one device since then, Smartisan T1. This handset was launched last year, and it sports mid-range specs. The T1 ships with a 5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core SoC, like the recently released ZUK Z1 for example. This company also develops its own Android-based UI, Smartisan OS. That being said, the company has announced the Smartisan U1 handset, a device which has been leaking all over the internet for a while now.

The Smartisan U1 is a rather interesting device, mainly because of its price. The Smartisan U1 sports solid mid-range specifications, and is very affordable. This thing features a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of in-built storage. The handset is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor, and a 2,900mAh battery is also a part of this package. The 13-megapixel shooter is available on the back of this thing, and a 5-megapixel camera can be found up front. This is a dual-SIM handset which is made out of plastic, and is available in a number of color options. Smartisan is obviously aiming to sell this thing to younger generations, at least according to their color choices which are quite bright. Anyhow, this thing comes in Purple, Blue, Cyan, Lime Green, Yellow, Orange and Bright Red color variants, as you can see in the image down below.

The company’s Smartisan OS comes pre-installed on this device, on top of Android, of course. The company did not mention which version of Android is installed here though, but it’s either KitKat or Lollipop. As far as Smartisan OS goes, its UI is extremely simple, and is quite different from what you’re used to. How much does this thing cost? Well, the 16GB model is priced at 899 Yuan, and the 32GB variant will set you back 999 Yuan in China. The device will launch on September 1st in China, but it’s possible that Smartisan intends to launch this thing to other markets, as it was the case with Smartisan T1.
