Sony Launches 'Watch Faces For Smartwatch 3' App

One of the biggest benefits of Android has always been the customization, whether it be with icon packs, wallpapers, themes, or any of the other many different customization options out there for the platform. Android Wear may not be quite as customizable, but since its launch it’s been gaining more and more options for users from varied sets of watch faces to installable app drawer apps to make launching Android Wear apps easier. Today, Sony has launched an app on the Play Store that makes customizing the Smartwatch 3 a little bit easier called Watch Faces for Smartwatch 3.

Since this is a Sony app, you can expect the watch faces to have a certain Sony design aspect to them. There are a range of different custom options from a few different colored backgrounds that can be used to the style of the actual clock. There are also a few different options for images as backgrounds that actually look quite nice too. Sony seems to have split the different watch faces up into three separate categories to make finding the one you want a simple process, with a tab for classic style watch faces, watercolor style watch faces, and a third tab for Sony style watch faces.

The app also lets you customize the background style a little bit with different looks, offering up a plain, pattern, and metallic look to the background of the watch face if you use the classic style watch face background. You can also toggle options for showing the date, and whether or not you want the digits to be thin or bold if you use the digital style clock. The classic style face has a few different widget options too, like toggling on or off the step counter, the date, and the week number. Right now the backgrounds are a little bit limited with only two options for the Sony style, two for the classic style and four for the watercolor style, but there’s no reason Sony can’t and won’t add more to the app in the future to give users even more customization options. The app is free, and you only need a Smartwatch 3 for it to be of use. If the Smartwatch 3 is your Android Wear device of choice, pick up this app and give it a shot.
