A report out of Thailand seems to indicate that the retail packaging of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 5 has been leaked online in the country. According to the two low-resolution images currently circulating online, the alleged retail box looks fairly similar to the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge packaging. The purported leaked retail packaging looks like it follows the same design principle as the ones we’ve seen previously from Samsung this year, although it looks beige rather than white, but that could be down to the lack of adequate lighting. What’s interesting is that the second image also shows the hardware specs of the device, which are allegedly printed on the reverse of the retail box. Now that would also be along expected lines, as that is exactly how most smartphone OEMs including Samsung design their retail packaging. From the looks of it, the hardware specs mentioned on the back also tallies with what is already expected from the upcoming smartphone, given all the leaks that have taken place thus far.
Samsung is said to launch the fifth generation of its Galaxy Note phablet on August 13th at its “Unpacked” event in New York City, alongside the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, which is said to be the bigger version of its Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone. The device has already been leaked multiple times on the net over the past few weeks, which has given us a very good idea about what to expect when it is finally unveiled in a couple days’ time. As for the two upcoming smartphones, the Galaxy Note 5 is rumored to feature a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels). That will give the smartphone a pixel density of 515 dpi.
As for the rest of the hardware, the Note 5 will be powered by Samsung’s very own Exynos 7420 SoC, which is already found on the company’s current flagships – the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge. The device is said to come with 4 GB of RAM, and will also have an option of either 32 or 64 GB of storage, according to rumors. The device will come with a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel selfie-cam. The battery will come with a rating of 3,000 mAh and the device will run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out the box.
